Halifax is a big airport with a big city nearby. Therefore I would expect more planes would have been sent to? Halifax than Gander.

On 9/11 I was 16 years old, and had lived and? still live in Gander… Never before have I seen such an outpouring of compassion and support for people in a time of need.
Speaking as a Ganderite and as a Newfoundlander, I can say that we would do the same thing time and time again if need be. It’s part of what makes Newfoundland such a great place to live, and makes me proud to call this rugged rock my home.

It’s what great friends do for each other. If it was the other way around, the USA wouldn’t hesitate to come to our aid. The two best / free countries in the world. This is how two neighboring countries are? suppose to live together. Peace…

What a wonderful community to take in so many people and all their pain and confusion. Gander gave 7000 people shelter, care and compassion during those days, but for millions more, you were? a bright beacon of hope in a time of great darkness. God bless!

As a Canadian, I couldn’t be prouder – more-so because my great-grandfather was born there and the roots? to Newfoundland are deep.

I’m from Gander and even though I was only six? years old at the time, I’m so proud of what we did but still wish I could have done something more. Being 16 now I can’t believe how long it’s been. We took in 38 planes that day in out small town of 10,000 people which then became 17,000. W’re have a ceremony tomorrow. R.I.P to those who lost their lives.
